UOG in a few words
The Labour University of Geneva (UOG) aims to developbasic, continuous training, with priority for the low-skilled, which encourages their social, cultural, economic and political integration.
In order to reach this goal, UOG organizes classes, seminars, lectures, conferences,forums or other useful activities.
In this aim, it collaborates with all the institutions that, at the canton, federal or international level, have similar goals and in particular with trade unions and cooperatives.
UOG is a non-profit organization.
It is recognized as a public easement, partly subsidized by the Government of Geneva and the City of Geneva, the Foundation for of vocational and continuous training (FFPC) and financially supported by the Cantonal Office for Employment, some districts of Geneva, a Joint Commission and all the trade unions of the Geneva Canton.
UOG addresses:
The entire population: public classes, lectures, debates, research days, exhibitions.
Employed people: support for better access to traditional organisations for improving work skills, complementary or continuous training.
Unemployed people: classes encouraging a return to employment.
Migrants: French, literacy classes, activities fostering integration.
Union stewards: stewards and staff representatives of professional, permanent, provident funds and union executive officers.
Industrial tribunal judges: joint UAPG-CGAS training.
UOG is also:
- a host service to guide you according to your needs
- a room renting service
- a local nursery "Zone Bleue"
- a cafeteria "Les Quatre Saisons"
- a services and partnership network working to help you in your progress
- classes created for you, on your own premises
But also
- Business French classes in various professional domains, aimed at a non-francophone staff.
- Classes in improving work skills at the request of professional associations or businesses.
- Classes in French for integration in any district of Geneva interested.
